Art is a place to call home: knick-knacks, crafts, found objects, handmade items, and treasured heirlooms; all the comforting things of home are accompanied with a deep underlying past and meaning. Creating art is constant throughout my life and my work is ever changing. I am fascinated by past and present socially constructed stigmas and preconceived notions regarding what is considered domestic. I am also interested in what society considers a “housewife.”
I strive to create work that displays everyday menial tasks and household items in a unique light. Crafts, vintage advertisements, handmade objects, and imperfection play a crucial role in the planning and making of my works. My work primarily consists ceramic pieces, often including printmaking components. It is crucial to make the connection between ceramic objects and domesticity through my art. I strive to push my work in a direction that will display the unique and delicate qualities that this medium has to offer while also fulfilling an innate need to create beautiful domestic objects.
